Moroccan khlii, Khlea or Moroccan preserved meat is a traditional Moroccan dish. It is particularly famous in the scholarly city of Fez, Morocco and its surroundings, as well as in the city of Marrakech. Al-Khali'- Al-Fassi is prepared from dried and salted beef, served as a main dish with eggs, and is considered one of the most famous traditional Moroccan dishes.
Preparation Suggestions:
Tomato Tagine with Vinegar and Eggs:
- In a tagine over low heat, arrange sliced tomatoes in circles, season with salt, and add minced garlic and olive oil.
- Cover the tagine and let the tomatoes simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Add the strained Al-Khlii, crumbled and drained of excess fat, sprinkle with cumin, and continue cooking for 5 minutes.
- Add the eggs and parsley leaves, and cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Serve the tagine hot, accompanied by mint tea.
